F.E.I Horse High Jump Record is 2.47m (8ft 1 1/4 ins) by
Husao' ridden by Capt. Alberto Morales (Chile) at Vina del
Mar, Santiago, Chile, on 5th February 1949.
- The
record for a horse Long Jump over water is 8.4m (27ft 6
1/4 ins) by Something ridden by Andre' Ferreira (South Africa)
at Johannesburg, South Africa, on 25th April 1975.
- The
record for the highest known Horse Race Speed is 43.26mph
over a distance of 440yds in 20.8 seconds by Big Rocket
at Mexico City, Mexico, on 5th February 1945 and by Onion
Roll at Thistledown, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, on 27th September
1993.
- The
fastest Horse over a distance of 1.5 miles is Hawkster at
California, USA, 1989. In a time of 2min 22.8sec a speed
of 37.82mph.
- The
strongest Horse ever recorded was Vulcan, a Shire gelding
who pulled a starting weight of 47 tonnes on a dynamometer
at the British Empire Exhibition, Wembley, London, UK. 1924
- The
Greatest number of Olympic Show Jumping Gold Medals is 5,
by Hans Winkler (West Germany): four team in 1956, 1960,
1964, and 1972 and the individual Grand Prix in 1956. He
also won team Silver in 1976 and team Bronze in 1968, making
a record 7 medals overall.
- The
most Olympic 3 Day Event wins is 4 Gold Medals by Charles
Pahud de Mortanges (Netherlands): Team in 1924 and 1928
and individual (riding Marcroix) in 1928 and 1932. Also
team Silver 1932.
