4-H
Members of this
world wide organization can recite their pledge by heart.
The
4-H pledge
My HEAD
to clear thinking
My HEART
to greater loyalty
My HANDS
to larger service and
My
HEALTH to better living.
For my
club, my community, my country and my world.
4-H clubs have
been in existence since 1913. Originally started for kids
in rural communities and the country, the 4-H clubs have
grown and you no longer have to live in the country to
join. More and more urban children are discovering the
amazing benefits of 4-H involvement. Adult volunteers are
also welcome and much appreciated. Where once kids had
calves that they raised for show and sale, now 4-H has
something for everyone. Cattle, HORSES, sheep, swine, DOGS,
other pets, cereal grain crops, gardening, sewing, public
speaking, travel, youth conferences, camping, International
Exchange (going to other countries to live and learn) and
much, much more.
The average age for members
is (depends on your location) is 8 to 21 years old. Kids
working and learning together in a wholesome environment
with the goal to be better prepared for their future in an
adult world.
So if your reading this and
are a parent interested in learning more about this
wonderful club for your child or if you are a teenager
looking to get involved with other kids who love the same
things you do, here are some websites to check out for more
information.
BEWARE:
Cynthia S. had to watch her
beloved dog, Goldy, sicken and die from being poisoned by
the very dogfood, she unsuspectingly kept feeding her.
Goldy died from severe "Mycotoxicosis" poisoning. There are
two brands out there either being recalled or had better be
soon. Several dogs have died from eating these brands.
NATURAL RECIPE
and GO NATURAL.
Please people, if your feeding either of these two brands of
dry dog food, STOP IMMEDIATELY.
If your dog appears to not be feeling well, get it to your
Vet immediately. This is an urgent message. Also, our
sympathy goes out to not only Cynthia, but all people who
have lost their dogs in this devastating way.
For any of you who have the
heart to adopt an older dog who needs desperately to know
human love and compassion, consider the sleek and beautiful
greyhound. These dogs used for racing meet unhappy ends
when they are finished racing or are not fast enough to
bother to feed and keep any longer. Thanks to many
wonderful and caring rescuers, some of these dogs are
waiting for new homes, in Canada and the United States.

Due to the large volume of mail
that we get asking for recipes for people to home make their
dogs food, instead of buying it, I have found an awesome
site. Some of these recipes sound good enough for me to
take a wee bite just to check them out.
