Preventing Neglect in Dogs
Many of you are also witnessing dogs at
this cold time of year who are not being Properly Cared For!
Sadly it is often on going Neglect for these poor dogs,
happening to them year round.
Animal Protection Acts
state: It is unlawful to Cause or Permit an animal to be in
or continue to be in "Distress". That is any animal of any
type, not just dogs. All animals have the right to:
Sufficient Food, Water, Shelter and an acceptable level of
Care.
Food: Of sufficient Quality
and Quantity to maintain proper health.
Water: Of sufficient Quality
and Quantity to maintain proper health.
Shelter: Sufficient to
prevent the animal being subjected to extreme heat in the
summer, extreme cold in the winter, wind and rain.
Care: To have room to move
freely at all times. (eg. Tied on a short chain) To not have
to lie or walk in its own feces, to not have to stand
continually in mud or any filthy ground conditions. To
have any health situations treated correctly in accordance
with the laws, to not be allowed to be in or continue to be
in any form of Distress.
Dogs kept on
short chains are unable to move freely and often are subjected
to lying and/or standing in filth. This constitutes Improper
Care.
Please do the
right thing and report the suffering of any animal that you
have seen or are now witnessing. Thank you for caring.
